Apple is set to hold a major product event on September 9, 2026. On this day, the company plans to show its next premium iPhones. The event is scheduled for Apple Park in Cupertino, California. It is called “Surprise and Shine.”
Apple says the program starts at 10:00 AM PT. In India, that time works out to 10:30 PM IST. Apple’s India page also lists the start time as 10:30 PM IST.
Much of the focus should be on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. At the same time, people are watching for a different kind of announcement. Apple’s first foldable iPhone has been talked about for a long time. Some reports call it the iPhone Ultra. Apple has not confirmed that label.

iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max Expected
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to be the main smartphone announcements at today’s event.
Reports suggest the Pro models could receive several hardware upgrades, including a new-generation processor, camera improvements, a smaller Dynamic Island, and larger batteries. The Pro Max could receive additional battery improvements compared with its predecessor.
A variable-aperture camera system has also been reported for the Pro models. Such a system could give users more control over how much light enters the camera, potentially improving photography in different lighting conditions.
However, these specifications remain based on reports and leaks until Apple confirms them officially.
First Foldable iPhone Could Steal the Show.
The biggest announcement could be Apple’s entry into the foldable smartphone market.
Apple has been linked to a book-style foldable iPhone for years, and reports suggest the company could finally unveil it during today’s event. The device has commonly been referred to as the iPhone Ultra, although the name remains unconfirmed.
Reports indicate that the foldable could have a passport-style design, opening into a much larger display. Some reports have suggested an approximately 5.5-inch outer display and a 7.8-inch inner display.
If Apple confirms the device, it would mark the company’s first major entry into a smartphone category already dominated by competitors such as Samsung and other Android manufacturers.
Will Apple Launch the Regular iPhone 18 Today?
The standard iPhone 18 may not be part of today’s launch.
Reports indicate that Apple could change its traditional iPhone release strategy this year by launching the premium Pro models first. The regular iPhone 18 and other non-Pro models could arrive during a later launch window, potentially in 2027.
That means customers waiting specifically for the standard iPhone 18 may have to wait longer than those interested in the Pro models.
Apple Watch and AirPods Could Also Be Announced
The iPhone lineup may not be the only attraction at Apple’s September event.
Reports suggest that Apple could introduce new wearable products, including the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. New AirPods are also among the products that could appear during the event.
However, Apple has not publicly confirmed the complete product lineup ahead of the keynote.
What to Expect From the iPhone 18 Pro Series
Based on current reports, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max could bring several changes:
- New-generation processor
- Improved camera capabilities
- Possible variable-aperture main camera
- Smaller Dynamic Island
- Larger battery on the Pro Max
- New color options
- Display and internal hardware improvements
- Further improvements to Apple’s AI-powered features
The final specifications, prices, storage options, and colors will only become official once Apple announces them.
Why the iPhone 18 Pro Event Is Important
Today’s event could represent a major change in Apple’s smartphone strategy. Instead of simply upgrading its existing iPhone lineup, the company could introduce an entirely new form factor with its first foldable iPhone.
The launch also comes at an important time for Apple as John Ternus begins his tenure as CEO. The September event is therefore expected to attract significant attention from consumers, investors, and the wider technology industry.
